How to Meditate?
Meditation isn’t about becoming a different person, a new person, or even a better person. It’s about training in awareness and getting a healthy sense of perspective. You’re not trying to turn off your thoughts or feelings. You’re learning to observe them without judgment. And eventually, you may start to better understand them as well.
1.Find a quiet space
Find a comfortable and quiet spot where you won’t be disturbed.
The key is to choose a place where you feel relaxed and can sit comfortably.
2.Get comfortable.
Once you’ve found your spot, take a seat. Try to maintain a straight but relaxed posture, with your hands resting on your knees or in your lap.
3. Set a timer
Start with a short duration, like 5 minutes. Setting a timer will help you stay focused on your practice without worrying about the time. You can gradually increase the duration as you become more comfortable with meditation.
4.Close your eyes
Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Inhale slowly through your nose, then exhale through your mouth. This will help you relax and prepare your mind for meditation.
5.Focus on your breath
Take a few deep breaths. Inhale deeply through your nose, filling your lungs with air, and then exhale slowly through your mouth. Repeat this a few times to help relax and center yourself.
6.Ending your meditation
When the timer goes off, slowly bring your awareness back to your surroundings and gently open your eyes, wiggle your toes, fingers. Take a moment to notice how you feel both physically and mentally.
Congratulations on completing your first meditation session!
And remember, meditation is a personal practice, and there’s no right or wrong way to do it.
Be patient with yourself, and enjoy the journey!
